
Shashi Solluna, Director of Tao Spiral
Shashi has been working in the field of nutrition for ten years. Specializing in Oriental Nutrition, Shashi is an expert at combining principles of Macrobiotics and Five Element theory for diagnosis and treatment using food, eating habits, qigong and lifestyle. This style of nutrition takes into account the whole person and is primarily focused on assisting the smooth flow of chi throughout the body.
Shashi ran a fasting and detox centre in Southern Thailand where she facilitated cleansing processes for many clients and visitors. A resident at Tao Garden for 18 months, Shashi worked as the Taoist Nutritionist at the Tao Garden's Integrative Medical clinic, making presentations, and giving sessions to clients. She was the co-author with Master Chia of the nutrition and recipe book , The Tao of Delicious. She is currently running her own Retreat Centre on the island of Koh Phangan in South Thailand.
In this talk Shashi will introduce the basic principles of Five Element Nutrition. She will introduce the Five Elements in the form of a medicine wheel, or map, based on nature. This gives a very solid foundation for understanding energy flow between organs and meridians. It can be extremely helpful in diagnostics of chi blockages, and can be used to work out how to remedy such blocks.
One will gain an understanding of how different foods move through different organs and produce different effects on the energy flow. One will also gain understanding on how to be intuitive with food energetics, as well as how to read the energy of the person to gain deeper understanding. In Taoist Nutrition, it is not just what you eat, but how you eat and what your relationship with food is like.
This class will be very complimentary for anyone who practices Chi Nei Tsang, as it can give greater insight into diagnosis. It will also enable chi nei tsang practitioners to offer some nutritional advice to assist their clients in the healing process.
