MICHAEL WINN

Michael Winn

Michael Winn met Mantak Chia in 1980, one of his first Western students and a Senior Instructor who did much to spread the Healing Tao. Michael co-authored "Taoist Secrets of Love: Cultivating Male Sexual Energy" and edited and wrote large portions of six other Healing Tao books. He teaches internationally, with current groups in Brazil, Holland, Mexico, and England.

Michael was chairman of the Healing Tao Instructors Association for 9 years, and still on its board. He is past President of the National Qigong Association USA. He founded and directs the Healing Tao USA summer retreat program (now at Heavenly Mountain in North Carolina), offering 25 Taoist retreats every summer with a faculty of 15 instructors.

Winn has authored ten Taoist qigong DVDs and inner alchemy homestudy audio courses. They are designed to make the Taoist hermit One Cloud's Formulas for Immortality deeper and more accessible to Westerners.

He leads a China Dream Trip to sacred Taoist mountains of China every spring, and has presented at many international conferences on Taoism. He published numerous articles, with book chapters in the Taoist scholarly classics "Daoist Body Cultivation" and "Internal Alchemy" (Livia Kohn, editor).

Taoist Internal Alchemy Cultivation in the West

Taoist internal alchemy (neidangong) is perhaps China's most secretive art. It is secret within China, and doubly secret to foreign "barbarians" who historically would never be initiated into esoteric circles of alchemical knowledge.

Pioneer Mantak Chia "broke" the code of secrecy beginning in 1980 when he began teaching these formulas to Western adepts.  He began a revolution in the West that is still reverberating back to China, where he has perforce inspired the Chinese to be less secretive. As a result of the Healing Tao (originally "Taoist Esoteric Yoga") teaching out these secrets, there are probably many more people in the West studying internal alchemy today than in China.

Participants will gain a more clear understanding of this Way and its relationship to Western spiritual archetypes and schools of alchemy. Topics will include Jungian psychological alchemy, bodily vs. laboratory alchemy, role of alchemy in energetic healing, and Eastern vs. Western notions of immortality, resurrection and eternal life.

This seminar will highlight the fruits of my teaching higher level alchemy retreats in the West over the last 15 years.
